Avilion物語

Avilionという中世ファンタジーロールプレイングのSIMを紹介していきます。キングアーサー伝説とロードオブザリング（指輪物語）をベースにしたSIMです。

「いろいろなロールプレイ」の記事で紹介したように、Avilionでは戦闘系のイベントだけでなく文化系のイベントも盛んです。

今日は「Bard's Campfire」（吟遊詩人のキャンプファイヤー）に参加しました。物語や詩、音楽などを皆で楽しむ会で、知性にも武勇にも優れるRagerのSが主催しました。


僕は、以前にこのブログで掲載した自作の物語「良心銀行」を少しアレンジして紹介しました。
ある善良なKnightが“良心”を銀行に預けることで、人を騙したり出し抜いたりすることをなんとも思わなくなり、富と権力を得て、ついにはAvilionの王になります。しかし、心の渇きを満たすことができず、預けておいた良心を取り戻し……
というところまでを語り、エンディングを参加者に考えてもらいました。

アメリカやヨーロッパの人たちは、良心をどのように考えるのか、日本人と違うか知りたかったのです。

予想以上に盛り上がって、ほとんどの時間がこのディスカッションに費やされました（他の発表を準備していた人ごめんなさい）。

それらを反映して物語のエンディングを書くという大きな宿題ができましたが、とても興味深い話が聴けて色々と考えさせられるイベントになりました。

親切は友人のSは、僕の英文の定冠詞の使い方などを添削してくれました＾＾

The Conscience Bank（良心銀行）

Once upon a time, there was a good knight in Avilion. He had a strong conscience, but was not endowed with a talent for sword. He always lost in the first round of the Avilion official sword tournaments. Not only rival rangers, but also colleagues in the knights made fun of him by calling "tinhead without sword skill."

Although he was not respected by anyone, he was satisfied with peaceful life in Avilion. But he reached a turning point. One day, he was strolling in Avilion as usual and encountered a strange old druid at the foot of the riverside cliff.
She said to him, "I will make you a great knight. Come with me!"

He followed her through a steep path and entered a mysterious room in a small stone house on the edge of the cliff. "This is The Conscience Bank. You can not be great because of your strong conscience. Deposit your conscience in the bank and all Avilion Orders will fear you." she said. "Do not be afraid! You are not losing the conscience. I am going to repay double the original amount one year from now."

Depositing his conscience made his heart light.

He never felt any qualms of conscience by cheating others. In Avilion, moneymaking for oneself had been taboo, but he started a business and amassed immense wealth. He stole secret arts from rangers, mages, and rogues, to say nothing of knights. He came to be feared as the strongest warrior. Releasing a balrog, he embarked on dominating Avilion. After purging his opponents and leaving Avilion in complete destruction, finally he became the king of Avilion.

But wealth and power did not satisfy his thirsty mind. He thought, "If she returns my conscience, then wealth and power and conscience is mine! I will enjoy supreme happiness!"

And when he got the double conscience back from her...
